[edit] Malcolm X

According to Malcolm Little's "rap sheet", which was printed in one of his biographies, Malcolm used the alias "Malachi Shabazz" before his 1946 arrest in Boston. (I'll try to find which biography has it.) I think this indicates that his use of the name Shabazz pre-dates his involvement with the Nation of Islam, and it suggests that its use was not intended to "honor his membership in the tribe." — Malik Shabazz (Talk | contribs) 06:43, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Malcom X may have been using the name Shabazz before his involvment with the Nation of Islam, but to say that its use was not meant to honor his membership in the tribe is a bold statement. Malcom X certainly did not simply "make up" the name Shabazz. The origin and meaning of Shabazz was known to Malcom X when he used it. - 208.54.14.11 (Tajiddin Shabazz) 05:31, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
