The Trevor Law Group was a Beverly Hills law firm notable in California and nationally for their heavy-handed tort law abuse. In 2003, they wrongfully sent demand letters to thousands of small businesses in California offering not to sue them in exchange for "settlements" amounting to thousands of dollars apiece, citing [section 17200]. They were investigated for this action and 3 principals of the firm were disbarred. [1] [2]
The Trevor lawyers went further than many other law firms abusing this section in several reguards, most notably in pursuing claims without even cursory investigation and in misleading their targets during settlement discussions. The Trevor Law Group are often cited in discussions of tort abuse in articles and California talk radio. [3]
