I believe the native new zealand ppl were the 1st to use trench aye?

Trenches were in military use since men were first throwing or shooting stuff at each other. I've however noted in other articles that it looks like the Maori were the first to use trench SYSTEMS and realised how useful loose earth was against artillery compared to stone walls (which they rarely had).
