From the article: Until 1937, the Swedish government insisted that the name of the town was "Trälleborg", which was not appreciated by the people of the city. It was officially renamed to its old name in 1937. This is of course just bullshit! During the centuries almost every place-name has been written in many different ways. E.g. in 1291 this name was written "Trelaeburgh".

In the beginning of the 20th century a spelling reform was implemented and many places in Sweden changed the spelling (not the names!) Hvetlanda - Vetlanda, Upsala - Uppsala, Gefle - Gävle are some other examples. I some cases older forms have been reestablished. This is such a case, and there a just few more. But it has of course always been the same NAME. --Andhanq 23:01, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
