Shame on them. Unsigned comment by Philip1992 on 21 June 2006
- Who? The Treamcast guys? --Thaddius 20:32, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
My understanding of the situation is that the "Treamcast" company got hold of a bunch of unsold US Dreamcasts and put them in their own custom cases, so it's not actually a "clone" as such - they didn't copy the hardware or pirate the BIOS. Which seems likely, really - I haven't seen a true unauthorised clone of any console more complex than the PC Engine. CaptainMurphy 04:22, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
- Well they added VCD and support for an IR remote. How can you add features like that to a system without modifying it? --Thaddius 20:03, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
- I'm not saying they didn't modify it, but they didn't actually clone the system from scratch - they're still modified original Dreamcasts. CaptainMurphy 17:21, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
- You said 'they didn't copy the hardware or pirate the BIOS'. I was merely pointing out that they did pirate the BIOS by modifying it dramatically. Your point still stands though, it is not a hardware clone, it is a refurbished clone. I suppose that makes more sense. --Thaddius 16:23, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
- I guessing the VDC support is just this http://console-news.dcemu.co.uk/dcvcd.shtml, and it has a mod chip installed so it can boot imports--Darksaviour 16:23, 28 November 2006 (GMT)
- does anyone have a picture or have ever seen a treamcast? After all it was made by third party support. It is a right to put blame on them, but who is to stop the inventiveness of people? If you modified a peice of hardware is that necesarrily wrong? Who are we to judje the motive and ideas of people. Sure, it was wrong to market it without permission, but it turned out to be a great product. If anything the people at sega have mind controlled you and told you what to think.
