Description

Photograph of the public gardens in Tremezzo on Lago di Como, Italy.

The lakeside garden, also known as the Parco Meier, was designed by the locally born architect Pietro Lingeri (1894–1968) as part of the project of reconstructing the eighteenth-century Villa Hortensia (owned by Roberto Meier) following a 1919 fire. For the gardens in the Italian manner he made reference, in a rococò key, to those of the Villa Colonna at Rome. (See: http://www.tremezzo.it/public/paese/index.asp?tipo=vill)
