Trafford is an English surname of Anglo-Saxon origin.
The de Trafford family is one of the most ancient families in England, tracing its roots back to Radulphus, who died in about 1050.[1] As Anglo-Saxons, the family initially resisted the Norman army, but were granted a pardon shortly after the conquest, when they took the Norman name of de Trafford.[2]
