[edit] Article title should be changed

The title of the article is mis-leading, as "Transformers: The Movie" is the title of the original 1986 animated film. By contrast, the Michael Bay film is titled simply "Transformers." I arrived at this page thinking it would discuss Generation 1 toys...again the title is incredibly mis-leading.Mobb One (talk) 14:36, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Wave listings

The wave listings appear to be based on how people found them in stores, not by how Hasbro originally shipped them out. According to Entertainment Earth, Protoform Prime and Protoform Starscream were "wave 1" of the Deluxes; Bumblebee, Barricade, Autobot Jazz, Decepticon Brawl, Scorponok and Wreckage were wave 2; and Swindle and Bonecrusher are wave 3. The reason why many people glut them together as one wave is because of the "street date" for those toys. Normally, Hasbro ship out toys, and stores stock them as soon as they get them. Here, Hasbro shipped both waves 2 and 3 prior to the official shelf date, so stores would put them out together (and furthermore, some stores even ignored the official street date). There are definitely shipments of Bumblebee, Barricade et al. that don't include Swindle or Bonecrusher. And I think "wave" listings should be based on how Hasbro actually ship them out, not by how a Wiki editor found them in his local store.

Also, Arcee is definitely in the '08 Bumblebee/Dreadwing wave, not earlier. The debut of Final Battle Jazz, Longarm and Payload is also officially an earlier wave than the wave that includes Dropkick and Recon Barricade. People even found the former three earlier. It's just that there was merely two or so weeks between those waves' initial shelf appearances, so many people didn't notice the difference. So we're currently at five or six waves of Deluxes depending on whether the Protoforms count as a numbered wave or not.

When it comes to the Voyagers, there are no waves listed anymore. Ratchet and Blackout were wave 1; Ironhide and Starscream are wave 2. Megatron originally shipped in a wave without Optimus Prime, so that either makes Megatron wave 3 and Prime wave 3.5, or we follow Entertainment Earth's listings and call Megatron a revision of wave 2 and Prime wave 3. Thundercracker and Rescue Ratchet are wave 4.

Leaders thus far are three waves (Prime, Megatron and Decepticon Brawl).

Legends were three waves (Bumblebee/Barricade/Ratchet/Jazz; Prime/Megatron; Starscream/Blackout).

Also, the only place I ever saw the Legends being referred to as "Micro Series" was when Hasbro first added the Cybertron toys to their website. the entries were later corrected and now say "Legends" instead. The "Classic" and movie-based Legends toys simply say "Legends" on the packaging, which would make "Micro Series" (I never saw "Micro Class" anywhere) an old, abandoned working name.--80.141.98.198 10:59, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

If there is something you know to be wronf, feel free to correct it. I added the waves based on looking it up online quickly, but I could be wrong. Mathewignash 16:25, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

Shouldn't writing a Wiki article mean "looking up everything to make sure it's correct" rather than "looking it up online quickly and then using the first hit in a Google search"?--80.141.111.209 14:26, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

ARGH. While the main issues are resolved now, there's more absurdness. For example, "Allspark Power" (and the upcoming "Premium Series") is not a distinct line or sub-set. It's just a just continuation of the existing assortments with new distinguishing sub-titles. It might be an idea to add stuff like "Allspark Power Wave 1" into brackets following the real wave number. But as far as retailers are concerned, those are simply the next waves of movie toys. It's a case of distribution patterns vs. advertising.

What's worse, store exclusives toys are listed as part of the mass retail waves, even though they ship in their own cases. That's like listing Deluxes and Voyagers as one wave just because they happen to ship at the same time, despite being in separate cases. And Screen Battles, despite including redecos of Deluxe toys, are sold at different price points than regular Deluxes.

Speaking of exclusives, what about all those multi-packs? Some of them even contain exclusive redecos. And while we're at it, Best Buy Ratchet and Megatron... who actually came in differently-styled packaging than, say, Target Jazz and Starscream.

Oh, and Legends and Allspark Battles (not called "Allspark Power", but in thise case separate assortments due to their two-pack nature) aren't even divided into waves at all!--87.164.76.131 (talk) 13:35, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
