What a rough town Tranent is. Thank goodness I never have to get off the bus there.82.41.29.1

I guess you must come from somewhere "less rough" then, like Haddington or Dunbar. I think you will find if you get of the bus it's not as "rough" as you think. Of course the town has a long history of being a working class area - but that doesn't mean it's rough. You might be missing out on so many nice things like visiting the local pubs, which are full of very colourful characters - I can personally recommend "The Tower". You could also shop there at the local Co-op Superstore. Some of the surrounding countryside is breathtaking including the walk up to nearby Faside Castle where you can get a fabulous view of the Firth of Forth from Edinburgh, over to Fife and encompassing views over East Lothian to the Lammermuir Hills, North Berwick and Traprain Law.
