Image of a snare drum transient from "Cliffs of Dover" by Eric Johnson (Ah Via Musicom, 1990), processed with the Waves L2 Ultramaximizer limiter using Adobe Audition to boost the audio by 9dB without clipping or distortion. This image shows the amount of compression that would result if such a process were applied to the recording in an amount required to achieve the loudness standard of current popular compact discs.
