[edit] First Generation
The Toyota ist is a subcompact car sold in Japan by Toyota, exported to the United States as the Scion xA. Based on the first generation Toyota Vitz hatchback, it shared a platform with the Toyota Platz sedan. The xA is unrelated to the new Toyota Belta, sold in the United States as the Toyota Yaris.
[edit] Second Generation
The second generation ist is similar to the new Scion xD and Toyota Ractis, which are derivatives of the five-door Toyota Yaris/Vitz. Its main difference from the xD is a revised front fascia.[1] It also solely an automatic car, sold as either 4AT, or Super ECT for the 2zr-fe, or as a Super CVT-i for the 1nz-fe option. One appealing offer for the 1nz equipped model is the choice of AWD, which was not carried over to the US for the xD.[2]
