Touch is the second studio album by American R&B singer Amerie, released on April 26, 2005 (see 2005 in music) in the United States on Columbia Records/Sony Urban Music. It spawned two singles: the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs number-one "1 Thing" (which also has a remix featuring rapper Eve) and the Lil Jon-produced "Touch". The album debuted at number five on the Billboard 200 in May 2005 with first-week sales of 124,000 copies. It helped her win the VIBE Award for "Club Banger of the Year" for "1 Thing". The album was certified gold by the RIAA four months after its release, and also earned Amerie two Grammy Award nominations in 2006, including "Best Contemporary R&B Album". The song "Talkin' About" was sampled on the song "Hip Hop Tonight" from Chinese singer CoCo Lee's 2006 album Just Want You.

[edit] Extended Copy Protection
In November 2005, it was revealed that Sony BMG was distributing albums with Extended Copy Protection, a controversial feature that automatically installed rootkit software on any Microsoft Windows machine upon insertion of the disc. In addition to preventing the CDs contents from being copied, it was also revealed that the software reported the users' listening habits back to Sony and also exposed the computer to malicious attacks that exploited insecure features of the rootkit software. Though Sony refused to release a list of the affected CDs, the Electronic Frontier Foundation identified Touch as one of the discs with the invasive software.
Sony/BMG has compiled the list, and owners of the discs can currently file a claim for replacement CD and downloads on the Sony/BMG website. This is open until mid 2007.
