[edit] Baselines not labelled in diagram

The author fails to denote in his diagram or text which baseline is baseline1 and which baseline is baseline 2, as referred to in his article. I presume that baseline 1 is the one at which the kinghts and lady are placed, and that baseline 2 is that by which the triangles are placed. (Reversing this leaves no appreciable challenge in the game.) That said, it would still be better to make the diagram more specific in this way.

(On a different note, this looks like a fun game to me, and I look forward to trying it soon. I'm a big fan of Kubb, and found this article linked in the Kubb article. I'm glad this is here.)

[edit] "Offending" the Lady -- appropriate term?

NOTE that this topic does not in any way touch on gameplay. It merely presents an observation and suggestion to the game's creator, regarding flavor text in the instructions.

After reading the following:

Knocking down the Lady before the knights: If by mistake you knock down the Lady before the knights, then you have “offended” the Lady.

I wondered, "... And is the Lady not 'offended' by being knocked down any other time? The game calls for her to be knocked down anyway as a victory condition." (Again, reread the NOTE at the top of this post.) If there must be an explanation for the penalty, other than "It is in the rules." -- presumably to add flavor to the instructions -- then perhaps something else would be more sensible to the over-thinkers such as myself :) .

If you agree, then of course, choose whatever alternative you like, but here I offer some ideas:

Knocking down the Lady before the knights: If by mistake you knock down the Lady before knocking down both knights, then the standing knight or knights attack.

Knocking down the Lady before the knights: If by mistake you knock down the Lady before knocking down both knights, then you lose "honor". (Any churl might bypass the knights in a sneak attack, but the honorable opponent faces the Lady's defenders directly.)

Knocking down the Lady before the knights: If by mistake you knock down the Lady before knocking down both knights, then you lose "honor". (As a warrior of excellence, you expect far better of yourself than striking an opponent for whom you were not aiming!)

Thanks again for a fun-looking game! I hope this helps you.
