Tortoise Opening
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Tortoise Opening is a dubious chess opening characterized by the moves:
- 1. e4 e5
- 2. Bd3?!
The Tortoise Opening is generally considered a dubious response to the King's Pawn Game, because it blocks the 'D' pawn, which is usually considered bad in the opening. The Tortoise Opening is given the code C20 in the Encyclopaedia of Chess Openings, along with other strange 2nd moves for White in the King's Pawn Game. Chessgames.com has no recorded games with the Tortoise Opening.
