[edit] Why join

I may be relatively new, but the "Why Join.." section doesn't read right to me. Comments and/or explainations? ––Alex LaPointe 01:31, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

Its not meant to read like an advertisement, its more of a verbal representation of say a coat of arms, sinces its a community oriented program. How do you suppose I word this better? Im at a loss.

I would leave out the "why join" section. Articles must maintain a neutral point of view. The article reads great up to that point. Pointing out the benifits of joining an organization isn't neutral unless you point out the possible detriments (which I'm sure you don't want to do). I'm sure most people (including myself) would agree that something like "civic duty" is a "benifit" but because everyone might not agree with that statement, it is not neutral. Also there is no way to verify that every single person would benifit in all the ways you describe. ––Alex LaPointe 01:43, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

Your right, thanks. Editing to remove it now.

Great, keep up the good work and remember there are tons of wikipedians out there to assist you with any questions you might have about content or editing.––Alex LaPointe 02:10, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

Let's leave the tag up for now so we can get some more feedback on the neutrality of this article. In the meantime, you might want to check out Wikipedia:Neutral point of view to learn more about Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy. ——Alex LaPointe 02:16, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

I went ahead and added this article to the scouting and volunteer catagories. If there are any other catagories you feel should be included, please add them. Thanks —Alex LaPointetalk 17:54, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
