Description

The now-submerged site of the Cherokee villages, Toqua and Tomotley along the Little Tennessee River (Tellico Lake) in the Southeastern U.S. Timberlake visited the Tomotley in 1761, and gave a vivid description of the return of a Cherokee war party. According to Cherokee lore, this area was the home of the mythical Great Fish, or "Dakwa."
