Tonyrefail is a village in South Wales. It was established in the second half of the 18th century.
Tonyrefail[1] is an historical town in Rhondda Cynon Taf.
It was once a busy town serving the communities of Coedely, Trebanog, Gilfach Goch and Tonyrefail itself. These days though it is a quiet residential town.
The eighteenth century terraced houses tell of its coal mining past and are a tribute to its refusal to die with the loss of the coal industry after the UK miners' strike (1984-1985).
