Tony Richard Thaxton was born September 6, 1978 and plays drums for Motion City Soundtrack. Thaxton is originally from Mechanicsville, VA, a suburb of Richmond, Va where he graduated from Atlee High School.[1] He and bandmate Matt Taylor first met the members of Motion City Soundtrack while playing a show in Milton, Pennsylvania with their old band, Submerge. After their drummer left, the members of Motion City Soundtrack asked Thaxton to join, which he agreed to in late 2001. Thaxton was only a member for two weeks before recording the band's debut LP, I Am the Movie.

In addition to drumming, Thaxton sings backup vocals, most notably in the live version of the song "Hangman", where he sings a part originally recorded by Mark Hoppus. Tony has also said that he would eventually like to do studio work. [2]

Aside from drumming, Tony is a fan of the Star Wars saga and the band Ben Folds Five[3]

[edit] Previous projects

Thaxton previously drummed the Richmond, VA bands Submerge, Gregor Samsa.[4], and My Parents' Birthday. He also sang and played guitar for My Parents' Birthday.[5]
