Upon his return to England in 2000, he was appointed Head Coach at fledging British Basketball League franchise Newcastle Eagles where he immediately turned their fortunes. By the end of his first season at the club, Garbelotto's Eagles had reached the BBL Trophy Final, while finishing 3rd place in the Northern Conference.
After finishing with Eagles in 2002, he then moved on to the Birmingham Bullets before settling with hometown club London United in 2006, upon their election to the BBL.
On April 30th 2008 Tony was named Everton Tigers' head coach. This was said to outline the ambitions of the newly developed club for the upcoming year of Basketball.
