Tony Daniel is an American science fiction writer.

Daniel has appeared numerous times in Gardner Dozois' The Year's Best Science Fiction anthologies. He has authored four books and numerous short stories. The novels Metaplanetary and Superluminal are part of a series, based upon the short story "Grist."

He was the senior story editor at scifi.com's Seeing Ear Theater, and now lives near Dallas, Texas with his wife Rika and children - Cokie and Hans. He is a Professor in the University of Texas at Dallas.

His short story "Life on the Moon" was nominated for the Hugo Award for Best Short Story in 1996.

Tony Daniel is also the name of an unrelated comic book penciller and artist.
