[edit] Shell description
The shell is similar to Tonna tankervillii but it is always smaller, and it has a flattened shoulder area, and deeper, wider, and more square-cut interspaces to the corrugations.
The shell coloration is variable, but it is usually diffused with reddish-brown on a white ground, the corrugations with numerous rectangular maculations in dark reddish-brown. The interior is bright chestnut-brown, fading to whitish at the outer-lip.
The shell height is up to 122 mm, and the width up to 94 mm.
