According to its website, it employs structured research benchmarks and sector specialists to create high-quality, dependable commercial knowledge on current issues. The Company was founded in 2000 by Kenelm Tonkin and is privately held.

Joint research between Fairfax's Business Review Weekly and the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology ranked Tonkin Corporation as Australia's 58th and 110th fastest growing company in 2004 and 2005 respectively.
