I heard a story about that he turned down Bill Evans's invitation to come touring with him early in his career on the grounds that "your just a lounge pianist". Anyone know if this is true, or if there's a source on it?

Some years ago, I was at a summer school in the uk where Tony was a teacher. I believe that the above is just the kind of thing he might have said. But for me, I would love to have been Bill Evans' drummer when I was still playing drums. And if I were a pianist, I would love to be able to play as Bill Evans did; lounge pianist or not. technut. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Technut (talkcontribs) 11:44, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
