Talk:Tony Martin (comedian)

[edit] Other
Just a quick note to say that I removed the line about "the dismissal of Triple M DJ Michael Tunn" because it was unrelated to the start of Tony's show. (The Adelaide Advertiser article did losely suggest it, but Tony is Melbourne based.)

[edit] television
He was in several shows people keep deleting, ie he was in the Shambles, a little-known Channel 31 production in Melbourne, playing himself. And he was obviously in Thank God You're Here, yet that's been deleted too.
For consistenncy, this point: "Tony is also the voice behind Bargearse, dubbed episodes of Bluey and Gov. Frontbottom & Judge Muttonchops in The Olden Days - both featured on The Late Show." should credit The Olden Days as dubbed episodes of Rush.
[edit] Page Protection
This article needs Page Protection as it gets vandalised as often as the Get This page does. --Ninevah 22:34, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Article protection
Is article protection generally temporary or permanent? Why has this article attracted so much vandalism? Hannybanny 05:07, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
- I believe that protection is normally granted on a temp basis which is reviewed by the various wiki admins out there...the reason why this article gets vandalised so much is that Tony Martin on his Get This radio program makes fun of wikipedia and discusses the vandalism and sometimes even "encourages" people to cause havoc on articles (his, his program, his co-hosts and even ones like Nik Kershaw). --Mikecraig 05:20, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
-
- Look at Richard Marsland for an epic war over nicknames that have at times been over half the articles length, in non-sentence format. Doesn't help when Ed Kavalee agitates for their return either.

- Yeah I know..been keeping an eye on these --Mikecraig 05:22, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Picture
Why is Tony's photo _exactly_ like Andrew Denton's photo? 220.253.2.41 11:45, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
- uhh...Nothing like it --Mikecraig 20:55, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

- The above comment suggesting the photos were identical was posted from an internet service provider in Victoria [1]
and seemed to anticipate vandalism by 8 minutes from a registered user. That vandalism was reverted 3 minutes later.--Golden Wattle talk 22:13, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

- Actually, I think the vandalism occurred first (at 23:57 22 November 2006 (UTC)) and then the comment was posted nearly 12 hours later (at 11:45 23 November 2006 (UTC)), by which time the vandalism had long since been reverted. --DH85868993 23:23, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
- Yes that's right. Perhaps it was to do with the cache in some way - perhaps the user's own cache!--Golden Wattle talk 23:36, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unsourced material
I have immediately removed all unsourced material in the Personal Life section. I strongly advise anyone who writes about Tony Martin to find a reliable source. WP:BIO should, and in fact will, be strictly followed. --Ta bu shi da yu 18:20, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
As a general rule, you can assume that the source for any absurd, dubious and clearly comical claims about his life are sourced from Tony himself. He has after all filled an autobiography, stand up routine and several thousand hours of radio with this stuff.
Also why should WP:BIO be strictly followed ? There's no bio in Wikipedia where the subject has stated more explicitly and repeatedly that he's amused by any and all misleading info here. He even encourages it. Surely you could figure out on your own that WP:BIO is more strict for living subjects than other subjects due to threat that living people are more likely to sue. Well he's not. Every dead person here will sue Wikipedia before he does. Chill out. Attriti0n 15:02, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Rumour
From that post today "In April 2007, it was rumoured that Get This would be moving to the drive time slot if ratings of the show's current timeslot did not improve.[citation needed]" - I wonder who has cooked this up? At present Wil & Lehmo is in the drivetime slot and I can't see Triple M making a change this quick ? --Mikecraig 04:32, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

"As a child he had a toe cut off by a protruding part in a brick wall while riding a bike. It was successfully reattached." - what's the source for this dubious claim? - Ta bu shi da yu 21:56, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
I do remember him mentioning this on air. I didn't add it. Should check the podcasts (recent ones) to see if its there. 60.226.133.172 14:41, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
Yes it was the same source for the equally dubious claim that he lost a finger in a fruit sorting machine. Tony Martin himself. Attriti0n 15:03, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Mick Molloy Fallout
I recently heard on one of the Get This podcasts that Tony Martin and Long time friend Mick Molloy are going to be battling each other out in court over DVD extra's. They did not exacly say much about it (as Tony was advised by his lawyers) but im guessing its because of the "Boytown Confidential" extra content that was only distributed on the website rather then on the DVD itself. Like I said though thats the only thing I can put it down to —Preceding unsigned comment added by MattyC3350 (talk • contribs)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Tonycrop.JPG
Image:Tonycrop.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] ARIA's
Tony stated on Get This that he was the record holder for ARIA's due to his involvement in various comedy albums (D-Generation and Martin/Molloy) anyone know a source for such information?121.219.28.21 (talk) 11:14, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Prob on page/New Book Source?
I just noticed at the bottom of the page some code has become visable, not sure how to correct this as I dont know what is ment to be there and was is not. Also I noticed that there is a entry about Tony working on a new book for 2008, could a source for this please be placed here to back this up? Cheers --MattyC3350 (talk) 07:31, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
- Fixed. DH85868993 (talk) 08:45, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Link to page
I was just wondering is it correct that when I do a search for Tony's wife "Annie Maver" that it takes me to Tony Martins page. With only a few words about her in the article? --MattyC3350 (talk) 05:04, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
- I guess it's the best solution until she becomes notable enough to deserve her own article. DH85868993 (talk) 05:26, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
