[edit] State of discography

This discography obviously needs a lot of work (missing regular albums, label changes, a zillion compilations, reissues, singles, chart positions, DVDs ...) and possibly reformatting (is the table that User:Walden started the right way to present this?), but I don't intend to do it. I did add a couple of external references to the best web discographies I could find. Wasted Time R 16:43, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I subsequently did a decent albums list and a spotty singles list; the discography article states what was put in and what was not. Wasted Time R 14:40, 1 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Format...

Can we reformat this discography so that it more resembles ella's and franks, so eventually we can start writing up the albums? yawn........ [19:59, 13 November 2005 Gareth E Kegg]

Yes, the reformat is ok. But be more careful when you add wikilinks for all the albums — all of the blue links there now are bogus, i.e. they are to songs or movies of the same name, and none are to actual Tony Bennett albums. As for your "yawn", for the most part I see no need to write up Tony Bennett album articles. None of them are as famous as the Sinatra 1950s proto-concept albums or the Ella songbook albums. The main article mentions the most significant ones, that can well be enough, there's no need for anyone to push themselves farther than that. Wasted Time R 05:16, 14 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Compilations

I believe that "first run" compilation albums should be included in the albums list. By this I mean compilations that were released in sequence with original material albums, such as the Greatest Hits volumes I through IV, as well as the more prominent, well-put-together Columbia compilations after his comeback. Putting these albums in the list helps tell the Bennett story. The many other off-brand compilations and re-packagings can still be left out, since they don't add anything to the story.
