Tommy Moe (born February 17, 1970 in Missoula, Montana) is a former alpine ski racer, now retired and living in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where he serves as an ambassador of skiing for the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.
In a surprising performance in 1994 at Lillehammer, Norway in, Moe became the first American male skier to win 2 medals in a single Winter Olympics. Being of Norwegian ancestry, he quickly became a favorite with the crowd at Lillehammer.
Tommy Moe learned to ski and race at The Big Mountain in northwestern Montana, where his father was a member of the ski patrol. Moe refined his skills as a teenager in Alaska at Alyeska, near Anchorage, where he attended the Glacier Creek Ski Academy. He joined the U.S. Ski Team in 1986 at age 16. [1]
Moe retired from the World Cup tour and competitive ski racing in 1998, at age 28. Classic Mountain Zone.com He was inducted into the National Ski Hall of Fame five years later and is currently a co-owner of Tordrillo Mountain Lodge in the Alaska Range.
