Tom "Curley" Prendergast was a gaelic football player with Laois in Ireland.
One of the best players never to win an All-Ireland medal, he also missed out on an All Star award.
His inter county career spanned 11 years (1976-87), although he missed out in 1985 when he signed off the panel. This was a huge loss to Laois, who reached the Leinster Senior Football Championship final against Dublin where a lack of scoring talent cost them dearly. He might have made all the difference that day.
However, in 1986 Tom enjoyed what was probably his most memorable moment in a Laois jersey when he was part of the National Football League title winning squad.
Tom won an All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship medal with his club Portlaoise in 1983 and seven Laois Senior Football Championship medals.
