Tom Meighan (born 11 January 1981, Leicester) is the lead singer for the Leicester based alternative band, Kasabian.

Meighan was responsible for singing lead vocals on most of the tracks on the band's two albums, but did not write any of the songs himself.

He played for the Nottingham Forest F.C. youth team in his early teens, but chose rock n' roll instead of football, he revealed in an interview with Nottingham's local newspaper Nottingham Evening Post. He also stated that he used to wear his Leicester City FC socks under the Forest ones as he is a big fan of Leicester City Football Club.

He is notably famous for calling The Strokes' lead singer Julian Casablancas a "posh fucking skier", the now defunct London based trio - Test Icicles as "King's Cross rent boys", Pete Doherty as "a fucking tramp" and The Automatic as "horrible" in an NME interview. Kasabian also criticised My Chemical Romance in a October interview by Bizarre in the Sun after being told the quintet were heading for No. 1 in the UK, claiming that they should "get out more" and that their lyrics were depressive and negative to youth as part of the emo phenomenon. Tom Meighan also called Justin Timberlake a "Midget with Whiskers", "Sex on legs" and a "Puppet in a million dollar suit". Joining in the Britney Spears breakdown debate, Tom recently said that Britney looks like "a tranny who forgot the wig". After playing the Ibiza Rocks event, Meighan also said that he "wouldn't give a fuck if the island sank"[1] Additionally, in his most recent NME (4.3.2007) interview he said that both David S. Sexton and Mark Wahlberg were "absolute fannies". Also after the Live Earth concert he said that he wished to see Madonna perform as she looked like his old gym teacher, although he then went on to say that his old gym teacher was a man.[citation needed]

Tom is also known for his raucous behaviour at awards ceremonies and other celebrity gatherings, claiming it was always his intention to be the "first to arrive and the last to leave".

Tom Meighan has created buzz in the film industry, as he reportedly had a role in Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette, but he later did not go through with it as he was committed to his band. As of more recent, he created a stir when wearing a Union Jack shirt at their lively Live Earth performance.
