[edit] Pro baseball in Cuba
Tommy Lasorda played pro baseball in Cuba in the 1950s. I don't know enough of the details of this to add it myself, but it seems like an interesting and important part of Lasorda's career that is not even mentioned in this article. 209.203.91.195 23:17, 6 December 2006 (UTC)Glenn R. Wichman

Thomas, this is an encyclopedia. Think of it as the Encyclopedia Britannica, the World Book Encyclopedia, etc. The main people who use encyclopedias are people who do not know about a subject and want to educate themselves, like an eight year old doing a report for school, or someone from another country trying to learn about this country, or a non-baseball fan trying to learn something about the game. I am not sure that your addition to the Tommy Lasorda article is the proper place for this kind of material. Did he actually say the words "BLEEP", "BLEEPING", and "BLEEPED"? This is not a good quote. I don't think that it adds to, or enhances, the article very much. Do you? Is this the best quote you can find for Mr. Lasorda? Is this the best this encyclopedia can produce? WikiDon 00:49, 27 July 2005 (UTC)
Lasorda's infamous rant about his "opinion of Kingman's performance" actually occurred on May 14, 1978. Although Kingman did hit three HRs against the Dodgers in the 1976 game, it was when he did it again two years later, including a third home run in extra innings to win the game, that Lasorda went off.[1]
Well, Tommy LaSorda is sort of famous for having a short temper and saying pretty wild things. I agree that they should have the words instead of BLEEP, but I somehow think that an encyclopedia would be more likely to have a few "BLEEPS" in it than an empty section entitled "quotes" that doesn't have any quotes. If he's famous for his quotes, then the article should have quotes. I'll try to find the unbleeped quotes, but until then I'm reverting. 24.218.218.249 01:01, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] RE: Tommy article
I did a major re-write on the article. The way it was previously organized was really scatter-shot and not focused. I think its better organized now. Also, the previous versions contained lots of barely sourced remarks that really did not belong in wikipedia... The quotes section in particular I found offensive and not suitable for inclusion here. If someone wants to add back some of the quotes, thats ok but the ones with all the swearing really aren't appropriate. While he may have said that stuff, we don't need to list it all here. Anyways, I think the article is better now. Still needs a lot more details on his time as manager of the Dodgers though. (Spanneraol 02:07, 19 July 2007 (UTC)).
