I can't find him listed on the Santa Monica College website. Is he still there? Holford 22:02, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Tommie's real birthplace

Tommie Smith was born in Clarksville, Texas - not in California as is listed in this article. He moved to Lemoore, California as a youngster and began his track and field career there. Check his official website for details.

One place on Wikipedia says Texas and the other says TN (Tennessee). I know Clarksville, Tennessee. Is there a Clarksville, Texas? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Loyaltubist (talk • contribs) 10:30, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

I changed this to TX on the main page. Please know your state abbreviations. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Loyaltubist (talk • contribs) 10:34, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Citation???

The following statement added by an editor:

"The men's gesture had lingering effects for both Smith and Carlos, the most serious of which were death threats against them and their families"

has no citations. One could even venture that this editor attempted to embed racism into this article. Panda —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 4.158.150.81 (talk) 00:52, 23 February 2007 (UTC).
