[edit] The order of the levels

Someone recently changed the order of the levels, switching the South Pacific segment with the Nevada segment. Although this is probably in line with the semi-official order of levels Core used as the basic set up, I oppose this change for the following reasons:

  • In reality, players choose their next locations so the order of the levels is arbitrary.
  • The original order of levels I chose is the one that is most commonly advised on in walkthroughs. Picking Nevada first after India will ensure minimal weapons loss in High Security Compound.
  • I've tried to design the article in a way that almost each segment has an example screenshot. India and the South Pacific have their screens on the Gameplay overview, and Nevada and Antarctica on the Levels overview. This unfortunately leaves out London but for reasons of readability (not *too* many screenshots should be used) and also for reasons of spacing. By switching Nevada and the South Pacific the screenshots of Nevada Desert and City of Tinnos are jerked together, which doesn't look too good.

I dont know what you're talking about, as soon as I finished the India level it took me straight to the South Pacific island level.

[edit] Raiders of the Lost Ark reference

Someone added this to the trivia of the idol:

Actually, this is not an Indiana Jones reference, but rather the "Golden Mask of Tornarsuk" - the treasure Lara Croft retrieves in the Tomb Raider II Gold Bonus levels

I seem to remember that someone from Core confirmed in an interview on the DVD of one of the Tomb Raider movies that it is a reference to Indiana Jones. I'm not completely sure as I don't actually own the DVDs myself. --Shrensh 07:55, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
There is a reference to Indiana Jones, and it's part of the special features section of the first Tomb Raider movie DVD. What it entails are interviews with both the creator of Lara Croft and the head of Eidos, and they're giving a short history of the creation of the character, who originally was male...and the concept back then looked too much like Indiana Jones. This led to reworking the character into Lara Croft. Carajou 22:43, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

If you guys both say his name is Bob, I believe you, but do you have a cite for it? It seems a bit of a random piece of information to include in the article, especially since it's not mentioned in the game itself, and will probably end up getting edited out again unless you can provide a bit of proof - Shrensh 00:21, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

I can't cite the script the anonymous user was talking about, but yesterday I was looking at (and listening to) a new 'official' soundtrack release (click here and move over to TR3) which lists a song as 06 - Tomb Raider III - Geordie Bob, so I reckon he was telling the truth. It is kind of trivial to mention though, but only if you actually know it's never mentioned in the game, so I don't think there's any harm done. I dunno, I'd let it slip, but if it's deleted again I'm not going to revert it. Cheers. --Steerpike 10:58, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Different Opening

Although it has been awhile, I remember reading in a gaming magazine when this game was released that the Japanese release featured an alternate opening movie which featured Lara. Sarujo (talk) 11:46, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

That's going to be hard to do as I wouldn't know where to begin online. The only way I think to help back my claim is find the magazine article in question. But don't remember anything beyond the article. However I get the vibe that might have been reading Tips & Tricks. The do, or at least they use to have a regular article called "Japan Report!" and might have been profiling the game's Japanese release. As I also recall, the article also diverged alittle about the Japanese's take on Lara such as how they pronounced her name. Sarujo (talk) 11:01, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
