Image talk:Tom Saputo at Piano Bar.JPG

On the description page, the uploader apparently stated that "This image was given to me by Tom Saputo (pictured)." This implies that this Tom Saputo is the copyright owner of the photograph. However, the image has been tagged with Template:PD-self — the uploader cannot release the work into the public domain if he or she does not own the work.

User:Ronkert: If Tom Saputo himself intended the photograph to be in the public domain, it should instead be tagged with Template:PD-release, and it is best if you could contact Mr. Saputo to give a written statement so that we can all be sure he has indeed placed the image in the public domain. Otherwise, the image will be removed. This, is, unfortunately, Wikipedia's strict policy on copyrights. ~ Jafet Speaker of many words 07:07, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

I am a personal friend of Tom Saputo. I can email Tom Saputo to verify his permission to use the photo in the "Piano bar" entry. Since I am not an expert Wikipedia contributor, I guess I was not sure how to tag Tom's picture when I first uploaded it. Please reply directly to me at my personal email address (ronkert@yahoo.com), telling me the email address I should send Tom's photo permission to. Also, please feel free to correct the tag associated with the photo. Thanks, Ron Kert. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ronkert (talkcontribs) 21:28, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
I am not entirely familiar with the process myself, but the relevant procedure appears to be documented here. I believe that Tom Saputo should email the (appropriately filled in) standard email on that page to the OTRS contact address in the following section. I also think the incorrect tag should be left for now until the issue is resolved.
I'm afraid I won't communicate with you via email unless necessary — it is closed and messy. But while you're posting here, do indent (prefix ":") and sign ("~~~~") your comments. If you need any more clarification just ask here and I'll see what to do. ~ Jafet Speaker of many words 08:48, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
