TollTag

TollTag is the electronic toll collection system used on the North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA). It was North America’s first electronic toll collection system when it was installed on the Dallas North Tollway in 1989. There are now over 1,000,000 of these electronic transponders in operation in the North Texas area. In addition to using the tags for downtown parking, toll collection, traffic management, and gated communities, drivers are able to use their tags at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and at Dallas Love Field (DAL) to pay for parking.
TollTags can be used on all of the roadways of the NTTA which include the Dallas North Tollway, President George Bush Turnpike, Addison Airport Toll Tunnel, and Mountain Creek Lake Bridge. Other D/FW-area toll roads not managed by the NTTA, such as Texas State Highway 121 through Lewisville, also accept the TollTag.
TollTags users have reduced fares at all toll plazas and no-stop express lanes at some plazas.
In late 2003, through the TxTAG program, the TollTag could also be used on specially marked lanes of tolled roadways in metropolitan Houston. As of 2007, TxTAG, EZ TAG, and TollTag are interchangeable at all locations, allowing users of one tag system to use the same tag on any toll road within the State of Texas. The two Dallas-area airports currently only honor the TollTag, though there are plans through TxTag to make all toll transponders interoperable with parking systems at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Dallas Love Field, Houston's Hobby Airport and George Bush Intercontinental Airport, and Austin's Bergstrom International Airport.
