tokyo_heathen is a Californian in her early twenties. She has a B.A. in Japanese (East Asian Languages and Cultures) and a B.A. in English Literature from the University of Southern California (USC). She graduated Summa Cum Laude and with departmental honors. She subsequently earned a Master of Arts in Teaching, also from USC. She intends to teach English abroad in Japan, then return to California teach at the elementary level.

She is conversant in Spanish and Japanese, and, although far from considering herself "otaku," and an admittedly shy member of any fandom, she considers herself knowledgeable about many anime/manga series. Notable favorites include Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon (since 1997), Kizuna (since 2001), Prince of Tennis (since 2003), and Legend of the Galactic Heroes (since 2005). Her tastes generally run toward minor/neglected characters, and the amount of research needed to learn about these sorts has led to a deep knowledge of the series in general. Additionally, she has a large interest in seiyuu, and little to no interest in watching dubs or reading professional translations.
