[edit] History

Today in New York was launched in the 1988 with Jane Hanson. For the first decade or so the broadcast was anchored from the newsroom. The theme was different than the Live at Five and News 4 New York themes. Until the 1990s, the broadcast was an hour long. It was then expanded to 65 minutes, starting at 5:55. It was subsequentely expanded to 90 minutes and then the current two hours. After being taken off the anchor desk at Live at Five in 1992, Tony Guida briefly co-anchored followed by Matt Lauer from 1992-1994 and Mary Civiello 1997. Maurice DuBois followed and co-anchored until leaving for WCBS in 2004. He was replaced by Rob Morrison. Hanson, still with the station until November 2006, was replaced by Darlene Rodriguez in 2003.
