Tobias Rau (born December 31, 1981 in Braunschweig, Lower Saxony, Germany) is a German footballer who currently plays as a defender for Arminia Bielefeld. He played seven times for Germany, all in 2003, which included a goal in a 4-1 routing of Canada.
He was highly rated as a long-term prospect at left-back for Bayern Munich and the German national team, but a succession of injuries and illness ended those hopes. He was to be a member of the country's Euro 2004 squad but once again, his bad luck hit and he wasn't available for the tournament.
