Tissue Factor (PDB code: 1dan) starts a cascade that leads to the formation of a clot. Factor VII binds to tissue factor becoming almost 1000 times more active. Factor VII then activate factor X, which activates prothrombin to thrombin. Thrombin activates fibrinogen to fibrin, that binds platelets together forming the clot (extrinisic pathway).
