Talk:Tin-glazing

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I have reorganised the article, putting the historical material together at the beginning and the technique after. I have added detail and clarified the glaze formula - it was not correct to put tin-glaze in opposition to lead-glaze, as tin-glaze often contains lead. I have added sources, including Caiger-Smith, whose Tin-Glaze Pottery is the standard work in English. Marshall46 01:24, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

I now have suggested merging this article with Maiolica - see that article for my reasons. Marshall46 14:50, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

Following Wetman's suggestion, I propose not to merge but to link all the articles that refer to tin-glazed pottery through a general article on that topic, which will refer to main articles on detailed aspects such a Hispano-Moresque ware, Delftware and Faience. I have made some changes to this article, which now emphasises the technical aspects of tin-glazing, leaving detailed historical accounts to other articles.
