Timberlake Wertenbaker is an American born English playwright who was born in New York [1], but grew up in the Basque Country near Saint-Jean-de-Luz, France[2]. She attended schools in Europe and the US before settling permanently in London. Her breakthrough play, Our Country's Good is an adaptation of a book by Thomas Keneally and was first performed at the Royal Court Theatre in London in 1988 [3]. She is the author of many plays for the stage and for radio, and has translated works by authors including Jean Anouilh, Sophocles, and Euripides[4].
