[edit] Rose and the Vortex

I think the comment about Rose exposing herself to the vortex is incorrect. She exposed herself to the heart of the TARDIS, which is not the same thing. Konczewski 03:12, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

From the episode dialogue —

ROSE: I looked into the TARDIS. And the TARDIS looked into me.

THE DOCTOR: You went deeper than that. You looked into the Time Vortex. Rose, no one's meant to see that —

And later, after he reabsorbs the power:

THE DOCTOR: I absorbed all the energy of the Time Vortex. And no one's meant to do that. Every cell in my body is dying.

The shooting script also makes reference to the time vortex in either Rose or the Doctor's eyes in different scenes. --khaosworks (talk • contribs) 03:29, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

So, what is the conclusion? We know that Rose looked into the heart of the TARDIS and the Doctor told her that in doing so she looked into the Time Vortex. Therefore is it true to say that the Time Vortex exists within the heart of the Tardis? Or perhaps the TARDIS contains a small part of the Time Vortex? Or maybe the heart of the TARDIS is simply a window on the Time Vortex? 83.104.249.240 (talk) 19:59, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] "Unprotected" travel in the Vortex

There are a number of examples of Timelords travelling without the aid of a TARDIS, but these could just be projections. There is the case at the beginning of Genesis of the Daleks where the CIA operative hands teh Doctor a Time Ring. Also, there is an example in the Pertwee era of a timelord appearing out of thin air (I forget the episode).
