[edit] Better Way?

I was thinking Wikipedia should do like a few forums sites do, edit time limits on non-reg users. No editing for like 10 minutes after they just made one. That way they couldn't keep vandalizing again and again until blocked. They make an edit and have to wait to do it again. By the time they can do so their vandal edit will be deleted and a warning left on their page. They do it again and wait 10 minutes to find out their IP address is permabanned and they have to get a new one. It wouldn't really be worth their time to continue. The idea if edit throttling is discussed here. But still, why even let non-registered users make edits? Registering make you no less anonymous. It seems like the majority of vandalism come from non-registered users, and a majority of the edits from non-registered users is vandalism

Yeah, but Wikipedia is built on the idea anyone can edit. Some honest people come here and may wish to make a minor addition or correction now and then, but don't wish to be regular users. Oh, by the way, you should sign off your comments with four tidats "~~~~" which will show your name and a timestamp. You can indent a paragraph with a colon ":". Thanks for the formatting tips - the mission that anyone can edit the wikipedia does not mean you can't require that people register, which actually helps to increase your anonymity by hiding your IP address. Yes you may be sacrificing the "now and then" corrector who refuses to register, but you may save countless man-hours, CPU cycles, and disk space lost to vandals. It is a question for "the powers that be" if this is tradeoff is worth it (I think it probably is) Tiki2099 22:07, 14 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Thank you!

Thank you for your timely reversion of the senseless (and immature) vandalism of the Age of Empires III article.

You beat me to it by 20 minutes, and I visit this article upwards of 20x a day! Great work!! Kareeser 03:00, 14 December 2005 (UTC)

Just looking at recent changes coming through. It really is quite fascinating what people do when they can edit anything

[edit] Panama Canal

Sorry, I tend to slip up like that sometimes. Earlier I mistakenly reverted a penis back onto a page in an attempt to take it off the page. It happens, eh? Thanks for letting me know. Lancer Sykera 22:31, 14 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Link clean up question...

I just notice you have reduced a link on the Green Arrow article. I have to ask, is there a particular reason why you removed the pointer to a subsection of the Spectre (comics) article?

Thanks for listening... — J Greb 03:33, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

The subsection did not exist on the page it was originally linked to. I just re-added it to the fixed link with a little rewording, it should make more sense now Tiki2099 04:11, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
