Tihu the name came from the river tihu ,in which bank the town situated. The town is one of the importernt market place in the Nalbari district. The town is known for its big Rice and Oil Miles but now all most all those miles are not at working state because of communication and terorist problem. But the ADVENT is doing well in the field of synthetic cotton. The town has is educational values also , some of the students from its local school and college in some fields science and arts .

1.Rajib Haloi --- 1st position in NET (mathematics)in India from GU

2.Srimay Sarma --- Working at Infosys at Chennai(IT)

3.Sasanka Goswami --- Working as the top most officer of NE states of Nunhems India (MNC)

The are many other students who are at some big post in the field of Medicin,Agirculter,Arts,Engineering,and IT.

Some other boys and girls who are studying at many good university at various places of India,including Guwahati ,Tezpur,Tamilnadu,Delhi,Balglore.  The Town has the mix population of Assamese,Jain,Bihari,Boro etc but the Muslim population is mush less.The Hindu festivels are the main festvels of the Town. The people of this town are rich in music and drama also.
