[edit] License tagging for Image:P7080138.JPG
Thanks for uploading Image:P7080138.JPG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

Thanks for uploading Image:Living coasts aug2.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. [edit] Tagging the Tamarin image
Hi, thanks for uploading the image Image:P7080138.JPG. It's a beautiful image. However, you haven't put a proper copyright tag on it. Unless you release it into the public domain, by tagging it with {{PD-self}} or release it under an appropriate free licence such as GFDL, by tagging it with {{GFDL-self}}. There is no such template as {{Image taken by self}}. The image was due to be deleted today, as a bot tagged it as missing copyright information, and that tagging automatically placed it in a category of images missing that information on a certain date. When seven days had passed, the category became one for speedy deletion. I've temporarily "saved" it from deletion, by changing the date of tagging, so you have another few days to fix it. I suggest you choose one or other of the two tags. They both allow anyone to use the image for any purpose, to make modifications of it, redistribute it, sell it, etc., but the GFDL licence means that you retain the credit for your part in it. Cheers. ElinorD (talk) 00:20, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
- Also, I found two more that were due for deletion, and I've temporarily saved them. They'll possibly be deleted on 28 September, if the copyright tag hasn't been added. Can you please take a look at your upload log, and check that any image which you took yourself (as opposed to one you found on a website), and to which you own the copyright, is shown clearly to be an image which you took, and which you personally release under a free licence (or into the public domain)? For that purpose, the two tags I've suggested would be better than {{GFDL}}, which you used on an image which has now been deleted.
- If there is any image which was your own and which has now been deleted from Wikipedia because it lacked the correct tag, please feel free to ask me to undelete it. I know it can be annoying to have your work deleted, but these untagged images are often tagged by bots, and then they get automatically placed in a category for speedy deletion, along with hundreds of other images, so an admin seeing a backlog of well over a thousand images awaiting deletion can be forgiven for hitting the "delete" button rather than spending a lot of time trying to figure out the correct licence. [edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Livingcoastslogo.gif
Thanks for uploading Image:Livingcoastslogo.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 01:22, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
