"Speed was only slightly improved due to the added mass of the vessel; a good deal of the extra power was bled off to the shield generators. While less maneuverable than standard TIE fighters, it could take a beating." - Speed has nothing to do with mass in space - there is no friction!!! The only thing that could have been affected was it's acceleration.
Is it worth mentioning/researching that Darth Vader probably needed a "more advanced" fighter, so audiences could tell which ship he was in? O0drogue0o 05:42, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
