Tiderace Sea Kayaks are a producer and supplier of high specification sea kayaks designed in Wales by Aled Williams the owner and built in Poland under licence by Plastex. The current product range consists of two kayaks:
- The Xcite
- The Xplore
Aled Williams has previously designed boats for Rockpool Kayaks- the ALAW, ALAW Bach & Menai 18 and Sea Kayaking UK - the Romany. Each new design has been regarded as the next step forward in boat evolution.
Tiderace Sea Kayaks, whilst still considered to be in its infancy, has won several accolades from the sea kayaking community for the innovative designs and the advancements made in boat construction. Most notable is the use of Plexus methacrylate structural adhesive in the bonding process rather than the more common and heavier epoxy resin. Both boats are fitted with 4 hatches - front and back main compartments along with rear and front day hatches as standard, something which is usually reserved for expedition boats. The Xplore's rear day hatch has been centralised to increase overall boat strength and is another example of practical creativity.
Aled Williams, who has been involved in the sport for over twenty years, is keen to support fellow sea kayakers and has recently sponsored Patrick Winterton in his quest to complete the Celtic Tidrace expedition.
