I am interested in this article because my grandfather and his oldest brother worked for Tidewater in Bayonne, before moving to California in 1920 to work at Associated Oil's Avon refinery (near Concord in the Bay Area) in 1920.
I am confused by this seeming non sequitur in the text:
"In 1928, Pacific Western Oil Corporation incorporated as a holding company for Edward L. Doheny and family which subsequently came under the control of J. Paul Getty."
What relation was there between Pacific Western and Tidewater Associated? I remember from conversations with my grandfather that J. Paul Getty was involved with Tidewater Associated, but I am not sure how.
