"Adults are not known to eat." If I'm not mistaken, they do. I have a male T. Pruinosa feeding right in front of me! It is drinking juice from a common office plant (epiremnum pinnatum) at the moment. See http://www.mechaworx.com/Cicada/behaviors4.asp for info on adult cicada feeding.

That's interesting. The Audubon Field Guide to insects states that adults on this genus are not known to eat. However, they do have a working proboscis and I remember once having a Cicada of this genus trying to stick it's proboscis into me. I guess it thought I was a tree. Maybe they tend not to eat if they mate quickly enough but may eat on occasion? Or perhaps it's an over generalization that they do not eat. Maybe some species of the genus do and others do not.
