An illustration of crushing cane with an ox-powered vertical-toothed roll crusher, from the Chinese encyclopedia of the Tiangong Kaiwu, published in 1637 by the Ming Dynasty encyclopedist Song Yingxing (1587-1666). This illustration appears on page 127 of E-tu Zen Sun and Shiou-Chuan Sun's English translation of the Tiangong Kaiwu (Pennsylvania State University Press, 1966).
