[edit] Unspecified source for Image:1Abdullah.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:1Abdullah.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 20:55, 19 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ~ BigrTex 20:55, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Response
if you know everything about wikipedia why dont you teach people how to upload images? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thundertimes (talk • contribs) 14:32, 30 May 2007
- That's what I've been trying to do. We also have a number of help pages, starting with Wikipedia:Images. There are also reasonably good instructions (and warnings about common mistakes) at Special:Upload. Additional instructions can be found at Wikipedia:Uploading images, Wikipedia:Image use policy, Wikipedia:Image copyright tags. I understand that is a lot of information and has been spread around somewhat. What questions do you have? ~ BigrTex 14:48, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
what kind of information should put for the images. here an example picture of yasser arafat........ —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thundertimes (talk • contribs) 14:50, 30 May 2007
- The first thing we need to know about Image:Yasserarafat2.jpg is where did you get it? I have trouble believing that it came from http://www.ebay.com, and would also have trouble believing that you took it yourself. Once we know where it came from, we can start to determine what the copyright status of the image is. If the image is under copyright protection, then it is unlikely we are going to be able to keep it. ~ BigrTex 15:10, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
it came from this site http://incentraleurope.radio.cz/ice/issue/60281 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thundertimes (talk • contribs) 18:43, 30 May 2007
- I've updated the source on the image page. I've provided both a link to the image itself (http://incentraleurope.radio.cz/pictures/ctk0411/arafat.jpg) and the page where it is shown. The page where it is shown credits it to CTK which appears to be the Czechoslovak Press Agency. I have reinstated the 'some website' license that you'd used on the other copy of the image that you uploaded. Since this image belongs to CTK, the only way we can keep and use it is under Fair Use, and then only because Arafat is deceased. I am looking for someone to help us figure out which, if any, fair use licenses apply. ~ BigrTex 19:39, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
-
- In my opinion, we cannot claim fair use in this particular case, because we have free images that illustrate the same thing, such as Image:Yasser-arafat-1999.jpg. As a general rule, if you didn't make the image yourself, you need to make sure it comes from a free source (such as the US government) in order to upload it here.
