Thurgood Marshall High School is a new High School at the Nettie Lee Roth school Site and has replaced the Colonel White High School for the Arts in Dayton, Ohio.[1] The school is named for the late African American pioneering civil rights attorney and Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall.
It serves approximately 1,000 students and is part of Dayton Public Schools. The school mascot is the cougar. The themes of Thurgood Marshall are Academic Magnet Academy, School of Humanities and Cultural Studies, and School of Service and Leadership. The Arts programs offered are for creative writing, music, dance, theater, and visual arts.
The school met 2 of the 12 state success indicators for the 2005-2006 academic year, dropping to an "academic watch" rating[2].
